What Happened in 2009?
|
January 2010
|
Dear David,
Last
October 2009 was some of the most interesting days
of my life. In hindsight, I can
see that this may have been the closest to death that
I have been without realizing it.
Over
that last few months, I have been dealing with difficulties
urinating frequently at night, but chalked it up to
old age, even though various symptoms seemed to be
increasing in difficulty. After
returning from church one Sunday, I wanted nothing
but to go to bed and rest, even though I only had
half a grapefruit that morning and threw that up.
My muscles were weak and I just wanted to rest.
Even then, with a catheter in my bladder, I
was having difficulties urinating only 1 ounce at
a time every 30 minutes.

Who
Do You Call In Trouble
A Very Present Help In The Valley of Death
I tried calling various doctors, eventually
getting my colonoscopy surgeon, Dr. Sayles, who advised
me to go to the emergency room on Monday afternoon.
I eventually met him there at 8:00 pm on Monday evening.
By that time, it was determined that my kidneys had
shut down and I was not aware of the seriousness of
my condition. I just wanted the pain to stop.
My mother was just a sweetheart, doing all she could.
The doctors determined that they needed to operate and put
tubes in my kidneys to allow them to drain the retained fluids and then put me
on dialysis to clean my blood. All of
this world wind of activity lasted way into the early morning hours of the next
day until I lost all understanding of time.
Now waking up with tubes all in my back and neck, connected to a large
dialysis machine that seemed to take up half the room, all I could do was call
on my Savior to guide the hands of the physicians and technicians and protect
me from any hurt, harm or danger. The 3
hour procedure went well until the last 30 minutes. The limits of what I could take seemed to be
reached prematurely, but the operation was successfully completed with only
limited unexpected pain.

The "FEAR" of Cancer
My God is Greater than ALL THINGS
The doctors' report indicated that cancer had returned to my
rectum area and spread to my liver, possibly causing my prostate to enlarge and
produce pressure on my bladder, thereby blocking proper release of urine
through the bladder and causing retention of fluids. Since the cancer had caused damage to the
kidney and this connected to the liver functions with the blood, they cannot
use contrast in my system to see exactly where the 'tumor' is to pinpoint it
for chemotherapy, radiation or surgery.
Therefore, their suggestion is a more general chemotherapy that will
affect the entire immune system of the body.
The urologists suggest that nothing be done until the
kidneys show improvement enough to be able to handle
anything. When I arrived with failed kidneys,
the score was above '9' which is bad. (Weeks later
the doctor told me it was actually '21'.) After
the operation and support of my family, the score miraculously
improved to '2.5' in just 4 days. The normal score
is '1' for a perfectly functioning kidney. The
prayers of the saints, family, and friends in addition
to my own confession of God's Word and acknowledgment
of His will is what prevails. I have decided to
believe the report of the Lord. |
A Test and Trial of Relationship
Blessed is the man whose trust is in the Lord
Many pastor friends have called
from all over the US and other countries around the
world have called and emailed to express their prayers
and support, which has also prompted me to put this
report together to fill in all of the blanks for those
who just don't know the whole story. There is
so much that has happened that has caused me to learn
many things that God wants me to live out on a day-to-day
basis that I have realized that it would be better
to put it in a book format. This would allow
me to best communicate my TESTIMONY, particularly
to those in the cancer community.
In a nutshell, I have been healed of rectal cancer
in August of 2008, divorced in November of 2008, and
I moved to Virginia Beach, VA to work with my brother
Mark B. Lawrence with a church he started, "Kingdom
First Ministries." All through 2009, challenging
situations have enlightened me and drawn me closer
to the Lord. And now I am defeating the spirit of
cancer again as it was trying to take me out through
my liver. Please join me in rejoicing about
the victory over the enemy. I have chosen to
believe the report of the Lord, and the doctors are
going to confirm that victory each time I meet with
them. During a recent chemo treatment, the doctor
reported that the CEA Score, which measures the presence
of cancer, has gone
DOWN from 289 to 7.
The normal person CEA Score is 5.
I am so grateful for the many friends and family who
have helped me in this season of trials. My
mother has been extremely helpful by providing room
and board and utilizing her nursing skills, even though
she has been retired for over 10 years.

Pressing On To The High Calling
Though my doctors have declared me disabled,
I am determined to continue to minister the Gospel through
Word and Song, through whatever means available.
The Lord is blessing me with so much on Healing, Worship,
and Deliverance, with a special emphasis on (ME)N. |
